BPS Kindergarten Information Night

The Burlington Public Schools will be holding an information night for parents of incoming kindergarten students. At this informational evening, you will learn about what a typical day in kindergarten looks like. We will review registration procedures, kindergarten screening, and overall kindergarten readiness. There will also be time allotted for Q & A. Please join us for this important evening.

Date:  Wednesday, January 17, 2018  (snow date – January 18, 2018)

Location and Time:  Burlington High School Auditorium 7:00 – 8:30 PM

 Our next topic will focus on Basic Rights in Special Education presented by the Federation for Children with Special Needs. This presentation will provide parents, caregivers and educators with a basic understanding of the complex special education laws and procedures. Evening will begin promptly at 7pm in the Marshall Simonds library, located on the 2nd floor.

Now Enrolling Students for FIRST Lego League Summer Bootcamp!

DSCN0636 Students from the MSMS Devilbotz team undertaking the same “Animal Allies” challenges boot camp participates will tackle this summer!

Burlington is hosting a FIRST Lego League “bootcamp” this year for students entering grades 4, 5, and 6th grades in the 2017/2018 school year. Participants will engage in a mock version of the 2016 FIRST Lego League competition, “Animal Allies” and work in teams to construct and program LEGO robots that navigate obstacles and complete challenges. Students will also explore how humans and animals currently depend on and impact one another and imagine how robots could play a role in improving this relationship in the future. This summer program is an excellent primer for students who might be interested in participating in FIRST Lego League teams, including the Marshall Simonds Middle School “Devilbotz” in the future.

Tuition for this summer session is $250.Transportation is to be arranged by parents.

Bus Monitors Needed

Bus Monitors needed to ride bus to and from school for in-district routes.   M​ornings​ (approx 7:30-9:00 am) or​ afternoons (approx 2:00-3:30 pm depending on route)

Responsibilities include:

  • monitor students behavior on bus as directed
  • morning and afternoon routes

Compensation:  $11.00 per hour

Permanent and substitute positions available.
